The GMS was the statewide repository of groundwater bore information managed by the former Department of Sustainability and Environment for the State Government Victoria. The GMS was migrated to the WMIS managed by the Department of Environment and Primary industries (DEPI, now DELWP) in 2013. The origins of the GMS lie in the Victorian Groundwater Data Base (VGDB) which in turn was formed from the merger of several borehole databases within the Victorian Government departments and agencies.
